“Maybe i’m supposed to be a Mormon”

Wow this week! 🙂 Its been great! I have decided that I love the rain! I just kept singing all the songs that I could think of with the word rain in them. 🙂 so that was fun!
On Tuesday we finally got in with a family through service. My companion and I spent 2 hours cleaning their kitchen and their living room and because of that their hearts were soften and they told us we could come back and teach them a lesson. and this family is so cute! they have 4 children and the 4 year old girl just loves me haha she even said “I love you the mostest more then her” (pointing to my Companion) and my companion and i just laughed 🙂 this little girl says the funniest things. Like “once you turn 58 Boom! you’re dead” so we are excited to teach this family more:)

On Wednesday we had another meeting with Drea and at the end of the lesson she said, I had a dream of god telling me this is my chance to give my daughter a better life. Maybe i’m supposed to be a Mormon. and my companion and I were just amazed! the church is so true! I love this gospel. Drea has a baptism date for Oct. 3rd and she’s so excited for it. its great!

Thursday we found the Bachelor’s house. Mr. Chris Souls, and he wasn’t home… Its okay we’re not giving up on him yet 😉 But he has a super nice home for Iowa haha 🙂 it was fun

Friday we helped College Freshman move into their dorms and it was strange being around college kids. I decided I don’t like it… I don’t want them to confuse me wanted to talk about Jesus with flirting. So i’d rather just teach people over 30… life is hard sometimes… Oh well, my companion and I do what we can with these college kids. Also we lifted so many microwaves, i’m so Buff!

Saturday we had zone training and that was great 🙂 I love being around other missionaries! 🙂 I have pictures and stuff that are going on my blog so visit that if you want to see them 🙂

Sunday!!! the best day of the week!!!! We had sacrament meeting about Patience and it was so incredible. I just love my branch and the faithfulness and their willingness to serve. They are my life goals. I want to be like them. I love this gospel and I love taking the sacrament 🙂 it was a good day!

Well I love you all and I hope you all know that the Lord knows each of you personally! He wants to hear from you! And be patient during your trials and hardships. In waiting is where we do the most growing. I LOVE YOU!!!

2 Months today!

Today is my 2 Month mark! 🙂 yay! Also in case any of you were wondering, My half birthday is on Friday 😉 lol 🙂 I’m so silly! My companion hits her half way mark on Wednesday, anyone have any fun ideas for hump-day? haha 🙂

This week has been pretty disappointing…  Alot of our appointments fell through and Estaban, Our Spanish investigator moved! He didn’t even tell us! We were trying to meet with him all week and then one day he was just like “Sorry, we moved to Eagle Grove.” Which is like 3-4 hours away… 😦 I had so much spanish to learn… *Sigh* Oh well, He’ll still get baptized, we’ve talked with the missionaries in that area. So thats good at least.

Jehovah’s Witnesses knocked on our door this week. that was pretty funny 🙂 She was so surprised when she saw our name tags. Haha and my companion and I are always asking ourselves what we would do if a jehovah’s witness knocked on our door, knowing what we know about missionary work. I thought I would be mean lol I’d invite them back and then invite the missionaries over, but it turns out i’m actually a nice person. haha We just talked briefly about how she became a jehovah’s witness. Interesting day haha:)

Transfers were this last week, and surprise surprise I’m not getting transfered haha 🙂 I’ve got 6 more weeks of training and then i’m a normal missionary 😉 haha! Because of transfers this week, our P day was on wednesday and we got permission to drive down to Ceder Rapids to have a zone P day with everyone in our zone! it was so fun to be with other missionaries!! We played basketball and i’ve figured out why i’m in a area where we don’t have a basketball hoop…. haha I’m pretty mean when I play basketball… i feel so bad my companion has a huge bruise on her leg from me boxing her out… I must have stepped on her. and then another Elder’s lip split when I jumped for a rebound and accidentally came down on his face… man… i just feel so bad… But my team won! so… haha yeah… this is why I only get to have zone p day once a transfer.

Anyway we are praying next week will go better for us. We have 2 new investigators and they like talking to us, but they never keep their commitments…

But you know I think its good to have bad weeks sometimes, because it makes you really appreciate the good ones. 🙂 I know that the lord will help us through our trials if we are patience and are diligent in keeping the commandments.

I love you!!! Hope you have a great week!!

This week I watched chickens get murdered while holding a kitten

Its been a pretty crazy week!! haha as you can kinda tell from my odd subject line 😉

I’ll just start from the beginning though haha 🙂

I’m starting to do some Spanish door approaches haha My spanish is good enough for an introduction of myself and my companion and then short testimony of the book of Mormon and Jesus Christ. so i’ve been doing my best with that haha and the gift of tongues is real! because i’m starting to understand some of what they say back to me!! haha its crazy!! Hopefully my Spanish can continue to improve as I read my El Libro De Mormon.

Upper Iowa University gave my companion and I Campus I.Ds so we could use their facilities and teach the students in the dorms. My I.D. says ‘Sister Brittany Pope. Campus Ministry’ and they have rooms we can use to teach and ping pong tables for p day. its kinda exciting 🙂 we are also helping the freshmen move into their dorms next week so maybe they’ll have a good introduction to the gospel.

I’ve driven more in my one month of a mission then I have the rest of my life!!!

So remember that story i told a couple weeks ago about the hot peppers? Well My companion and I went back there to do service and they were butchering chickens… and they needed help… Hence the subject line of my email… haha My companion and I did not cut off the heads or skin and gut the chickens… but we did catch them and watch them… and we held kittens while they did it… mostly because there were really cute kittens just walking around haha 🙂 but the chickens jump so high without their heads!! My goodness there is a sight that I’ll never get out of my head… After the chickens were skinned and gutted, my companion and I were to cut the legs, wings, and breasts off for packaging. It was one of the grossest things i’ve ever done…. There was still blood and I felt like I was just ripping this chickens body in half… GROSS!!! I can’t believe I actually did it… *Shivers*

anyway…

Sundays are my favorite day of the week! 🙂 We had 2 of our investigators come to church and Sister Romero and I taught Gospel Principles on the spirit world. and it was such a good discussion and the spirit was so strong! Everyone was participating and sharing their testimony. I just love going to church here 🙂 The Members are my favorite part of my mission. They have such strong faith! I love them!

Its been a great week! Intresting… but Great!!!

I love you all!!!

Family Email!

Hello my dear friends!!

I hope this last week went well for you!!

This week my companion and I were able to got to the Nauvoo temple, Carthage, and the Pageant. Wow! it was such a wonderful experience 🙂 I love the temple and I love the spirit that was felt there. I feel like there is a special spirit that is felt in the Salt Lake and the Nauvoo temple that just makes you feel close to the early saints. I loved being in the temple. We were shown the assembly hall and a clock that is stoped at the time that Joseph Smith was Martyred. It was just incredible the spirit that is there. Carthage was great too! There was a quiet somberness that was felt. All of us there knew why that place was special. I loved it.The Pageant was awesome too!! I met my favorite Adam and Eve haha 🙂 it was so amazing! You all should go out and come to the Nauvoo pageant next year! 😀 the only thing I would wish for last Tuesday… is if we could have stayed some place in Nauvoo and traveled back to our area the next day… we ended up getting back in our apartment at 3am and then having to wake back up at 6:30 am to work the next day… so Wednesday was a pretty rough day haha:)

Our investigator Estaban is doing so well! he’s so ready to be baptized! If only we could get his girlfriend divorced faster so they can get married… He wants to know everything there is to know about the gospel so its so awesome to teach him:) And my spanish is getting better! lol 🙂 Its really interesting though, some days i’ll wake up and remember a random word in Spanish. I took Spanish in the 7th and 8th grade so remembering anything is truly a tender mercy from the lord. I’m so grateful for his hand in my life.

Also! Pretty exciting event this week, I ate my first real Iowa Corn on the Cob this week 🙂 and also my second real Iowa corn on the cob lol 🙂 I have a feeling that I’ll be eating corn on the cob a lot in the near future 🙂 So anyway that was my week! it was amazing and wonderful and I love the temple!!! Go as often as you can!!! 🙂

I love you all!!

It was such a great experience! There is just a great spirit that is there, the Nauvoo temple is often called Joseph's Temple because that was the only temple he knew. So there is a tender spirit there.

The Actual Pageant :) The music was very much the same as the Oquirrh Mountain temple dedication Celebration, so it brought back a lot of memories from that.

And this is my Friend Bonnie Wood. We played volleyball together at cyprus She's serving in the Navuoo Visitors center and she left on her mission before she knew I had my call. So it was a surprise for her to see me :)
