So to start off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY DEAR SISTER JESSICA!!! and HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE BEST MOMMY!!! 😀 you guys are great! I love you!
This week we were able to visit the field of dreams! the baseball field in the middle of a corn field. haha that was fun 🙂 yay for p day last week!
Things that happened this week! We went on exchanges with our STL’s and that was good! and very needed! as we did this I was able to ask some needed questions to make Training more fun and how to best help my companion. My STL told me that sometimes exchanges are meant to show us how to work hard, and sometimes they are to show us how to have fun and get out all the stress and frustration. and She told me that I needed to do more to have fun… so that’s what we’ve been working on this week. having more fun together. We bought glow in the dark stars for our ceiling! 🙂 How great is that! 🙂 and we play with bubbles and color pictures! of course we work really hard too… we’ve talked to more people this week then I ever had in this area! and we taught way more lessons! so maybe there’s a correlation there… the right amount of work to the right about of play equals the most productive missionary work. 🙂
Exciting things with our investigators! Dawn and Tony are planning their wedding for Halloween! and they want Sister Baransky and I to be the Witnesses 🙂 How great is that! and then Dawn wants to be baptized as soon as possible! but Tony is still working on the Word of Wisdom. Just so you know Smoking Raspberry Leaves is still against the word of wisdom… even though its a little weird haha 🙂
Other things I’ve been noticing this week is the importance of a good attitude. Sister Baransky and I were discussing Nephi, Sam, Laman, and Lemuel. They were all 4 return missionaries but who had the most successful mission? and even though things happened that were pretty discouraging. Nephi had enough faith to lean on the lord! We don’t know a lot about Sam, but I wonder how his testimony of the church was in the beginning. and then we know about Laman and Lemuel… They thought it was so hard that everyone should have died instead of coming out to the wilderness… (1nephi 17:21) So I would just like you all to check your attitude about the work of the lord. Especially around Missionary work. Just because a church tour didn’t work in the past doesn’t mean it can’t work in the future 🙂 keep working hard and keep trying! EVEN when its hard! 🙂 I love you all and I hope you have a wonderful week!
All my love,
Sister Brittany Pope
ps. Keep Ponderizing!! My new scripture is 2Nephi 9:18.
I like how it talks about enduring the crosses of the world. I like that because I think we do have our own cross to bear and things that are hard for us. but if we give up those things to the lord we will inherit the kingdom of heaven which has been prepared for us!
Let me know your scriptures for this week! I love you!
We had 4 Investigators at church yesterday!!! 😀 😀
How great is that!! I’m so happy!! We had 85 people in our sacrament meeting! Dawn and Tony came and we even had some priesthood holders give them blessings! (Tony had a Stroke last month, and Dawn was pretty stressed) so it was such a good experience and the spirit was so strong!
Also one of our investigators if a college student from Luther College in Decorah (About an hour away from our church) and he referred himself to the missionaries after watching the book of Mormon musical, so that was good! He seemed pretty interested too! we taught him Restoration and then he had all sorts of questions on the Plan of Salvation so we taught him that one too! it was just so great!! The Church is true everyone! I hope you all know that!! 🙂
I am struggling a little with my Companion, not because of obedience or anything, we just do things differently to achieve the same goal. And I like to take a positive approach and focus on what went well more then being very critical and recognizing what went wrong… so that’s a struggle… And I know that its good to see the weaknesses we have so we can make them strengths! I just don’t want to beat myself up over lessons… so yeah.
But I love her! She works hard and we work well together! She’s amazing! We just work a little different and that’s totally fine! I know that I have so much to learn from her and that’s why we are companions! 🙂 She is the best cook! we made chicken pot pie and this week she’s going to make me a pumpkin pie from real pumpkins! so we are good friends and we do strive to serve each other. 🙂
The scripture I’m ponderizing this week is Proverbs 13:10
and I know I’ve been studying pride a lot lately but I guess I still have more to learn haha 🙂 so it basically says that Pride brings contention and Humility brings Wisdom so I’ll be working on that this week!
You are all so amazing! I love hearing from you in letters and emails! you are all so great! 🙂 I love you!

Oh my Goodness Conference was the best!! I’ll talk more about it at the end of my email 🙂
So this week Drea Dropped us. I was so sad, I just want her to be happy forever and I know that its possible with our church! and its really hard to let Investigators go. so that was so sad… But! we did meet a new investigator this week! and She even came to a session of Conference!! So that was so awesome! she loves how well the Book of Mormon works with the Bible and she just wants to continue learning more! When she came for conference we showed her the baptismal fount and reminded her that she’ll be baptized on the 14th of November and she just thought it was the coolest thing ever! AND she doesn’t Smoke or Drink!! 😀 How great is that!! The field is definitely white here! 😀 All ready to harvest! 🙂
Conference! It was like the perfect sandwich! it started with President Uchdorf and Ended with Elder Bednar! 🙂 with so many good things in the middle! Probably one of the coolest parts was when we sustained our new apostles! because Elder Renlund is actually doing a mission tour here in Iowa This month!! I’m going to meet one of the new Apostles!! 😀 so Sister Baransky and i nearly died when we heard it was him! we were so happy!
Some of my favorite quotes from this conference was
“It will all work out” – Sister Marriott
“The Holy Ghost gives us Customized Counsel” – Elder Lawrence
“No darkness that can not be over come with light” -Elder Stanfill
“Be different and distinct in happy ways” – President Nelson
These were just some of my favorite quotes and if I was home I would probably have tweeted them with the hashtag #LDSConfOct2015 but I can not so I will just include them all here 😉
ALSO Ponderizing! What a word! haha 🙂 I’ve decided I’ll try it! and I’ll include the verse(s) I’m going to ponderize for the coming weeks in my emails 🙂 This week Its D&C 121:7-8 and I changed the word ‘Son’ to Daughter, because that is what i am haha 🙂 So its been great!!
I am so grateful for Conference and the spiritual upliftment that I received! it could not have come at a better time. To hear these new apostles talk about how they feared they weren’t good enough for their new callings, but the Lord called them to do it! and I just felt that as a Missionary trainer, I didn’t know enough to train, I felt so inadequate, I didn’t want to ruin this new missionary. But the Lord called me to this calling and I will do it to the best of my ability and thats all I can do. But the more time I spend with Sister Baransky the more I know that we were meant to be companions. She is teaching me so much! I bet I learn more from her then she ever will from me… But I just do my best. The lord doesn’t call the qualified he qualifies the called.
I love you all and I pray for you all every night! I really do. I pray that you all felt prompted to do something from conference and that you will have the faith to Act on that prompting! You are all so great! I love you!
