Hello Family and Friends!
So yes I was transfered this last week to a place called Marshalltown! its about 2 hours from Des Moines. My companion is Sister Abegglen (I may have spelled it wrong…) But she’s super cute. She is Tiny! 5”1′ and so spiritual! its really great! Also she came out with my last companion so guess what that means? Yes I’m still Senior Companion and I still have to drive… Yikes! But at least we are no longer in the middle of no where! so its great! 🙂 Our District leader is also in Marshalltown but they are the Spanish elders.
I still love going to church! we have about 1/4 active people here so there so much work to do! also I live in a very ghetto part of the mission. So many drug deals all over the place. But its okay they need the gospel too right? haha 🙂 But seriously Word of Wisdom is the hardest thing for people here to live. So my work is cut out for me.
For Christmas we have a few members that have invited us over, and it sounds fun. I can’t believe its already Christmas… It doesn’t feel like it though. I miss my snow. 😦
So as a prank my companion and district leader decided to prank us new missionaries (Me and Elder Collins just came in this transfer) By having one of the eternal investigators pretend to be deaf and mute and only knew how to read Portuguese. and so here I am thinking this is a real lesson… But all 4 of us needed to be here because my comp knows sign language and he apparently could read some spanish words. Ugh… Anyway it was awful. they finally told me he was fake on Saturday night. And i’m sure i’ll laugh about it later but it just wasn’t fun to be the butt of their joke… so yeah thats my first week in Marshalltown.
For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior which is Christ the Lord
Remember the reason for the season. Its about remembering our Saviour and all he has done for us. I love the atonement. Remember him always!
Lots of work here! 🙂 I”m excited for it! 🙂
I Love you so much! I hope you have a Merry Christmas

So this week was senior companion week for Sister Baranksy. That was fun 🙂 I didn’t have to drive! Yay! But it was a good week! Elder James B Martino from the Presidency of the Seventy came this week for a Mission Tour. He taught us a lot of ways we can help the work grow in our areas specifically in getting member referrals. Because those are the most productive ways to get baptisms. Those investigators already have a friend to go to, to ask all their questions and its just great. So we are trying to implement that.
Also I just want to give a huge Thank You for all who have sent me packages and letters! I’m hoping to get more Thank you notes out soon! Sorry they haven’t come out sooner! I do appreciate all the love and support I’ve received being on a mission. Thank you! 🙂 I love you all!
We had our branch Christmas party this Friday and that was fun! we did Soup! 🙂 We had 30ish different kinds of soup to choose from! and then we had a big white elephant gift exchange. Sister Baransky and I gave the best present with Mr. Kruger’s Christmas, and Together Forever (super cheesey 80’s Movies) and a whole bunch of missionary stuff! 🙂 it was a great day! and a less active got our gift 🙂 that made us the most happy!
We have been working on getting more investigators and so the member we have going to Luther College (He served in the Salt Lake City West Mission!!) Let us teach some of his friends. So we went to this college dorm to teach these football players. it was weird and awkward haha so we’ll probably just have them meet us at the church for the next lesson. But it was still good. 4 new investigators this week! 🙂 Hopefully we can get them to baptism.
I know what you’re waiting for… Am I getting transferred? well… the answer is… I don’t know!! Transfer calls haven’t come yet which means a couple of things. 1) I’m not training next transfer!!! 2) I’m not a Sister Training Leader. So I’m betting the transfer call will come later tonight. and we are still hoping that they’ll keep us together one more transfer. especially for Christmas… 😛 I really love my area. It feels like Home to me. so many wonderful members and so much work to do. I’ve grown up a lot here and I’ve learned a lot. its going to be really said if I go. 😦
But I know that God has a greater plan for me then I could ever imagine. So i’ll just keep trucking along and doing my best. I’m so grateful for my mission and for the growth I’ve seen in myself. I remember when I was teaching Relief Society in my Singles ward and how nervous I was and how I couldn’t make the material last the whole 45mins. But now I can make a whole paragraph last the whole time if I ask the right questions. 🙂 A mission is a truly incredible experience and I’m grateful for it. I love you! Keep praying and keep reading your scriptures!

For my blog…
Yay! This week Dawn and Tony were married! and it was really a lot of fun! it was just a small celebration about 20 people but it was awesome 🙂 Sister Baransky and I were the Witnesses and I used all my wedding talents (LOL) to put together this wedding. On Saturday was their Baptism, and it was wonderful as well. we used the left over reception food for treats after the baptism. 🙂 haha we are so awesome. and then on Sunday they were confirmed. 🙂 I think the whole weekend went really well and I’m so happy that I was able to be with Dawn and Tony through their whole journey to these Sacred Ordinances. And We’ve already picked a date a year from now for them to go through the temple and be sealed for time and all eternity. and the best part of that? I’ll be there! I’ll still be on my mission at that point! 🙂 How great is that!! 🙂 December 6th 2016 🙂 happy happy Sister pope.
Transfers are coming up and they will be on December 17th this year. So 10 more days in Fayette… 😦 I love it here. I don’t want to leave. its become my home away from home! I’ve just felt so much love and support here. how do missionaries even leave areas… I just don’t understand. Anyway… I’ve been working on packing a few things so I won’t have to do everything the night before. *sigh*
And Kelly Lightfoot has dropped us. She had all the lessons, the only thing she needed was the baptism interview and she doesn’t want to meet with us anymore. She came to church consistently for the last 5 months and because of a bully in primary she doesn’t want to be baptized anymore. 😦 So just make sure you’re being really nice to everyone in your wards. Just be friends with everyone!
Well That’s all that I have to report on this week. I love you all! I hope you know that! Remember to read your scriptures and pray. 🙂 those are important things. Also the new Christmas Videos from the church are great! 🙂 Watch them!

Sister Brittany Pope
