HUMP DAY!!!

Hello Friends and Family 🙂 I hope all is going well for you and that you have a very wonderful Easter Sunday next week 🙂

This week was great we have some pretty incredible lessons with the Johnson Family and they are preparing to be baptized on April 2nd. We’ll do it inbetween conference sessions and they’ll have a font side confirmation since its conference weekend 🙂 But we are really excited for them! John hasn’t smoked in 7 days he said he just prayed and turned it over to The Lord and Asked him to take that temptation away from him and he hasn’t smoked since 🙂 He’s also been coffee free which was his biggest temptation from the start and he wants to be baptized with his family so he gave it up too. 🙂 Yay! Johnson Family! They all came to church too! so that’s 4 investigators at church! 🙂 Good Good Day!

This last thursday was St. Patrick’s Day but also my 9 Month click day! 😀 Half way through the Mission 🙂 I never thought i’d actually get here… I thought i’d just be a 3 month old greenie my whole mission. Haha 🙂 Also Transfered happened and my Daughter (Sister Baranasky) is in my Zone now 🙂 and everytime I see her its a proud Mom Moment 🙂 She is still the fiery-gun-slinging Sister B that I know and Love 🙂 Also for my Hump day I went to Sister Steinbeck’s home and she has Baby Ducks!!!!! 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 😀 My whole day was Made!! 😀 She’s so awesome! She made Hump day dinner (Steaks) and then for Desert we had Cheesecake with Hump Day Camel cookies! 🙂 It was the best day! 🙂

Also… so Mid Mission is usually when Sister’s go through some drastic change with their hair and whatnot… and hey i’m no different lol 🙂 I got an Ambre meaning I had Sister Thorn bleach the ends of my hair 🙂 haha it was pretty fun 🙂 so yeah good times!

This week was so great we were able to see so many miracles and blessings that came from all the hard work of the weeks before 🙂 I’m so grateful for this time I have to be a missionary and dedicate myself to the Lord. I know that he is with me every step of the way getting me through all the long hard days as well as the fun happy ones 🙂 Missionary work is hard, but its so worth it! 🙂 I hope you all preparing yourselves for conference and praying about a question to have answered 🙂 I know as you prayerfully seek for answers, that they will come to you. 🙂 I love you all! Thank you for all you do for me!

Happy Easter!!

Happy Pie Day!!

3.14. 🙂 Yay its time to eat some pie:)

This week was great! it was transfer week and i’m here in Marshalltown still. Woot! My companion is Sister Thorn from Las Vegas Nevada 🙂 She’s super awesome and She is Senior Comp now. Woot! I don’t have to drive for 6 weeks! Some crazy things have happened though on our way to transfers… Our Member who drove us had one of her tires blow. It was shredded. and we were on the left side of a very busy highway… so we do we do? well we Pray of course! and then call the APs and have them come to save us! 🙂 They came out with all the luggage of the returning home missionaries and then changed our tire and it was great! It could have been soo bad… it could have been a roll over accident but thankfully it wasn’t! we are so blessed!

More miracles happened the Johnson Family came to church! All 4 of them! Oh man it made me so happy! The Ward already loves them and they are so excited for them to become members, they have a baptismal date for April 2nd. Which is Conference Weekend so pretty much its gonna be the best weekend ever! John and Paula talked with the girls and they are starting to read the Book of Mormon together every day for 20 minutes starting from the beginning. And John is giving up smoking and Coffee today! So its just wonderful! They are so prepared for the gospel they are going to help our ward out alot! I love them so much!

So this week I took a more active role in Ward Council and I have plans to help with the ward mission plan. Our ward’s plan is… well… its not very good right now. And I have no power as a missionary… So i’m taking my plan to the Zone Leaders who will present it to the Stake High Counselor over Missionary Work who will then show the Stake President and Mission President and then it will come back down to Marshalltown Ward. I feel like this is the best route to go so that things will actually change. Anyone who looks at our current mission plan can see that there is no measurable goals. So we are working to change it. I’m reminded of a talk by Sister Dalton when she said “A virtuous woman led by the spirit can change the world.” And that is exactly why i’m out here. Its not to make people feel good or comfortable where they are at… its to change them for the better so that they can grow and be so much more! 🙂 I’m not a quiet missionary in any sense…  and I don’t believe in Half way jobs. I’m here for the long run. 🙂

I want you all to know how much I love and appreciate all that you do! You’re amazing! 🙂 I love hearing from you every week! Keep working hard and doing all you can to help the work progress! I know the Book of Mormon is the word of God and i’m so grateful to have it in my life!

Watch the new Easter Video the church put out!

Miracle of the 11 year old

This week has been full of ups and downs… haha but that is just what missionary work is. 🙂 This week started out pretty slow, we had a lot of appointments fall through and that led to 5 hours of straight finding… 😛 haha its pretty draining to be out knocking on doors and having most of them turn you away… but its okay because we were able to see how our obedience brought miracles 🙂

This week we had the baptism of Allison Ashby. and it was so stressful! haha she didn’t show up until 10 after the appointed time and normally that wouldn’t be a problem but because she was baptized right before church, if she was late Bishop wasn’t going to do it. Luckily the Elders had a baptism that morning too so the font was filled and Allison was able to just come in, get dressed and be baptized 🙂

This baptism this week led me to reflect on my own baptism. It was 12 years ago last week that I was baptized a member of the church. And I don’t remember alot but I do remember that I woke up so excited to be baptized 🙂 I remember that my Mom gave the talk on the Holy Ghost and she compared it to my Baby Blanket and when I broke my arm at age 6. She wasn’t able to go into the emergency room with me, but my blanket was. And the Holy Ghost is just the same. It can go with us everywhere and it brings peace and comfort. I’ve always remembered that as i’ve grown older. I’m very grateful for the Holy Ghost in my life and for the guidance and direction it gives me! Also… it was a year ago last week that I received my Endowment. Lots of big events seem to happen in the beginning of March 🙂

You’ll notice my email title is miracle of the 11 year old. And its not Allison, but a girl named Trista. We were on our way Home after a long day when my companion see a girl on the side of the road with a bag. And I asked her “Do we need to go back?” and we drive a few more blocks before we both decide, Yes we need to go back. So we go turn the car around and talk with her. Turns out this 11 year old girl ran away from home. She was distressed and scared and didn’t know what to do. So we talk with her a little more, say a prayer, and ask her what she thinks would be the best thing to do. Which was for us to walk her home. So we did. its moments like these that make me love being a missionary. All those down moments mean nothing when I remember that I am an instrument in the hands of The Lord. And he puts ME where he needs me to be. I’m so grateful to be out here sharing the gospel 🙂 I love my Savior and I know he loves me too.

Keep working hard my friends! Share the Gospel with those you know and remember that no effort is wasted. The Lord can use you, if you only listen to the spirit. 🙂 I love you all! Have a wonderful week!

All my love,

Sister Brittany Pope
