This last week was transfers and I was transfered away from Marshalltown to the great city of Macomb Illinios! 🙂 So I left the State… haha 🙂 its been fun though! My new companion is Sister Kurt. She actually took my place in Fayette after I left and was companions with Sister Baranasky. Its fun because we both understand Fayette life… 🙂 Its been fun to catch up!
So this week was pretty exciting 🙂 we were without a car for about a day and a half… nothing major it just had a ding in it and the missionary department wanted it fixed. But that meant Sister Thorn and I did A LOT of walking. But it was good 🙂 I didn’t burn too bad from the sun. 🙂 It just meant that we had to rely a whole lot more on our members and make some sacrifices. We kept singing to ourselves “Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of Heaven” we know that the Lord was with us and he places us where we need to be. 🙂
Also even though we didn’t have any investigators at church… 😦 We had a few of the less actives that we’ve been working with! 🙂 So that was a huge miracle for us! Also it was hard because this last week was probably my last sunday here in Marshalltown, and I’ve grown to love the people here so much! Sister Steinback gave the best lesson in Relief Society on Sunday. It was entitled “sometimes its hard to go to church” And I looked back at my life and reflected on that a little bit. And it is hard, I remember the days my mom would struggle to get me and my sisters ready in time for church. I’m’ sure it was super hard. But what it taught me, is that you come no matter what. I’m so grateful for my parrents and the wonderful example they are to me. They live the gospel always. Thank you.
We also had a lesson with Max Levis this week. 🙂 that was good! we talked about his concerns and how he feels about the book of Mormon. (you got to remember this is a 92 year old man) and he believes the Book of Mormon to be true and that Joseph Smith was a prophet. His concern is that he’ll have an accident in the middle of church. He is just the most kind man, so we’re going to help him by having a church tour and showing him where the bathrooms are and telling him where he can sit so he’ll be close to them. 🙂 It’ll be great. 🙂 He’s one of like 30 WWII Veterans left here in Marshalltown. 🙂
Well Friends and Family I’m pretty sure i’m being transfered this week so don’t send anything to my apartment, just sent it to the mission home. 🙂 Transfers are on Thursday. 🙂
I love you all! Thanks for all you do for me!

I finished my Plan of Salvation Poem. 🙂 Here is a few of my favorite stanzas..
Three kingdoms of glory
Is where our spirit will reside
Telestrial, Terestrial, Celestrial
Depending on who we are inside.
Telestrial, The glory of the stars
These people are happy in sin
They choose to reject the gospel and Jesus Christ
Despite all he had done for them.
Terestrial, the glory of the moon,
Good people still reside here
They didn’t want to keep the commandments
For them their faith was overcome by fear
Celestrial, the glory of the sun
The highest glory we can receive
With our families, God and Jesus
You’ll be so happy, you’ll never want to leave!
So this week was crazy busy and awesome! 🙂 Starting with last Monday! 🙂 we had a Missionary pot luck with the missionaries in our district and we played Milk Jug Lacrosse. It was so fun! We had hot dogs and pasta salad and cheesecake! and of course the elders forgot to bring forks so we just ate with our faces. 🙂 lol So memorable and so funny! 🙂 I love our Elders. 🙂
We also helped the cemetery clean up flags after a big storm right before memorial day. That was fun because Jerry took us and showed us all his civil war veterans that he was able to get tomb stones for. 🙂 One of the cooleset stories was a black soldier in a white troop. He’s probably one of a few if not the only black solider in the white man’s troop from the civil war. So much History! 🙂
We also volunteered at the House of Compassion (Soup kitchen type thing) and we were able to talk to lots of people. Its interesting the kind of people we meet there… Most of them just looking for hand outs… so we’ve gotten alot of “Welfare” calls this week… Definitely my least favorite thing to deal with as a missionary.
Jody Perry was on date for June 4th but she had a cigarette last sunday and she was just going to smoke the rest of the pack until we came and she told us. we were disappointed of course. but in the end we had her break the rest of the pack. all 17 cigarettes and she told us that was one of the hardest things she’s had to do. So we’re really proud of her and she said that she’d invite me to her baptism when it happens 🙂 So perhaps if i’m close i’ll be able to attend it!
Oh and Transfers are on June 9th. So in a week and a half.
The Hunger Games were this week! 🙂 it was such a hit! the weather though wasn’t on our side… but it was still fuN! we played until it started to thunder and lightning and then we went inside for a lesson. John Johnson gave a talk on grace and it was awesome 🙂 15 non members came! That’s more non members then i’ve ever seen at any ward event! So that made me happy! 🙂 We made T Shirts for the games and on the back they say “Ask me about a free Book of Mormon.” 🙂 It was awesome! Although afterwards we were SOOO Tired… and we couldn’t even go home and sleep like everyone else… we went right back out and got to work. 🙂 Yay missionary strength.
On sunday we taught gospel principles and then we also did singing time in primary. 🙂 I love primary! 🙂 It was so fun! It reminded me of my sunbeams that I used to teach. 🙂 I hope they are doing well. 🙂
And yesterday we had the best Memorial Day party i’ve ever been to! (mostly because I usually had to work on Memorial day) but we went to Eldora and had a BBQ with most of the ward. It was so fun! 🙂 I also finished my Indian earings. It took 2 months but now they are done! and I can’t even wear them because they are like 4 inches long.. haha 🙂 But tis a good time!
Well the only other thing that I can say for this week is something I learned that I thought was really cool. So Last week I was having a pretty rough time. As missionaries we get people tearing us down all the time… and usually it doesn’t bother me but this week was rough. Anyway as I was talking to my companion about it she asked me a question that I never thought of before…
“How do you think we fought in the War in Heaven?”
And I thought for a while and decided that I didn’t know. She then told me that we fought Satan with our testimonies. Those were our weapons. and that Every time Satan tries to tell you that you aren’t good enough or that you’ll never amount to anything you need to bear your testimony to him. That’s how we fight back. That’s also how Satan will be bound in the millennium, he’s not going to be bound with cords or ropes but our testimonies will be so strong that he can’t get us.
I know that this gospel is true! I know that as we strive to do our best we can tie up Satan in our own lives. Bear your testimony! It will help! the more you share what you know the more your testimony grows! I hope you know that I love you and that i’m always praying for you!
Have a great week!

This week we are hosting the Marshalltown Hunger Games to try to build relationships between the community and the LDS Church. Many people don’t know anything about us and because what is unknown is scary, they automatically run away or become “not interested” but we are hoping that with John Johnson and his past youth group followers that we’ll be able to help build some trust and some relationship. so Pray for us this week… that All will go well on Saturday. 🙂 We’re excited and Scared… AHHH!! 🙂
But This week was great! Sister Thorn told me I’m a great assistant as we dye people’s hair. haha we’ve done 2 people so far and we have a few more to do this week. we’re doing Sister Steinback’s Hair tonight! She’s Awesome! 🙂 Its gonna be more blue!:) We also had FHE with Sister Steinback this week! Sister Thorn and I taught the Lesson and we had this really cool looking spider. It was HUGE! and looked super real. Anyway we told people not to open the box and then acted like satan. Saying “just one look won’t hurt” “All the cool kids are doing it” and then when they opened the box people nearly screamed 🙂 it was great! 🙂
We also went and had dinner with the Reeses and I climbed their tree and Grant taught me how to Popsickal. (I don’t know how to spell a made up word lol) well anyway its pretty much Bust a Move and he was so excited to share it with me. 🙂 Also he talking about star wars and was so upset about the new star wars movie… lol he started crying and said that he’ll never watch disney again… haha poor guy. 🙂
We had Exchanges this week! Woot Woot! It was so fun! I was with Sister Hansen and Sister Thorn went with Sister Bagley. Well about 3 hours into our exchange sister Bagley got sick and threw up in a dumpster…. Poor girl… anyway it wasn’t much of an exchange for Sister Thorn… 😛 But Sister Hansen and I picked up all their appointments and we had a good time!:)
Something exciting was yesterday we went to a 8 year old birthday party. There was a pinata and cake and it was so fun! The girls taught me how to “Hit the Quan” which is apparently a new dance that I’ve never seen before. Lol so funny! I’m such an awkward white girl… haha 🙂 Good times! I have videos but I can’t send it via MyldsMail so… in January we can all laugh at my awkwardness! 🙂
I’m so grateful for the gospel and for this time I have to be a Missionary. I know that this church is true and it just becomes more and more true everyday, with the more that I learn and know. 🙂 I’m grateful for the love and support you all give me and I love you!!
Have a great week!
