Senior Companion week!

So this last week was week 5 of the transfer and the week I deemed for Sister Pickard to be the Senior companion. She hated it, and I just laughed. I made her make all the decisions and plan for the day and lead the weekly plan. She told me she never wants to be anything but Junior comp. But when we talked about it this morning and evaluated how it went, she had a greater understanding of how much I do for her and what all missionary work entails. This week I’ll take the reins again but with the understanding that we are both here to do the work as equal companions not with one doing all anymore but with us both pulling the yoke together. It was a good discussion. πŸ™‚ Thanks Spirit!

Also this week We had a lot of Miracles, namely having investigators in Member’s homes. We had one member call us on Wednesday and tell us we were late… (she hadn’t scheduled us or anything…) but lucky thing the spirit is in charge so we had the time to just run to her house and teach a lesson bring the spirit. πŸ™‚ It was amazing! Then we also had another lesson in a member’s home about the Plan of Salvation. It was so good!! the Members really are the ones who know what to say because they’ve had these same questions before. Both member’s were converts to the church and they have such sweet testimonies of how they came to know it was true for themselves. And they also have good testimonies of missionary work. πŸ™‚ I loved it!
We moved out of the beans home yesterday, our short stay in Pride and Prejudice was so fun! but now we are back in our normal house with the Rands. πŸ™‚ things are good we are working hard and doing our best to follow the spirit.
This week i’ve been doing alot of study on the Sabbath Day. Mostly because i’ve run into a few people who were like “Why do you worship on Sunday? the Sabbath day is Saturday/” So Here’s my answer.
In the Old testament the Sabbath day was worshiped on Saturday, or the 7th day (Gen. 2) That is true. And during Christ’s ministry they observed the Sabbath as well. In fact today in Jerusalem from my understanding they still do their worship on Saturday. But we learn in the Book of Acts that after the Resurrection of Jesus Christ the Apostles met on the 1st day of the week also known as “the Lords Day” to remember him. (Acts 20:7) Β and they blessed and broke bread and remembered all that Christ did for them. So in you’re wondering why we worship on Sunday its because that’s the day that Jesus Christ was Resurrected (John 20:1) And we like the Apostles of old choose to remember him on that day. πŸ™‚
But Also know that it doesn’t actually matter what day you choose to Worship, it could be Saturday or Sunday, as long as you are keeping it Holy and doing your part to remember the Savior you are keeping that Commandment (Bible Dictionary: Sabbath) In the book of mormon it doesn’t really specify a day of the week that the people came together for their Sabbath day. Just that they”met together Oft to fast and to pray” (Moroni 6:5-6)
I know that as we follow the commandments we will have much happier lives and that we can receive that spiritual strength we need to get through whatever it is we are facing. πŸ™‚ The Church is true! Remember that! And also Remember Jesus Christ! He’s the one who is the Head of it. πŸ™‚
I love you all I hope you know that! Remember who you are! Literal Sons and Daughters of God! You are Special, you are Important!

Philippians 3:13-14

So that scripture has been used so many times this week… there is no way that’s just a coincidence… haha πŸ™‚ its Wonderful πŸ™‚ Please read it!

This week was pretty cool! I turned 14 months old! Woot woot! and Also I celebrated my 20 1/2 Birthday! Lol complete with Cake and a candle! My companion even Sang to me! Thanks Sister Pickard! haha! πŸ˜€
Also we had the New Trainer’s meeting! Which was fantastic! President and Sister Badger are so fun! they had us play missionary jeopardy and it was the Trainee’s who played with their lifeline being their trainers. It feels nice to be needed:) Sister Pickard goes up there and as soon as she sees the question she almost yells “Sister Pope!! I need help!” and I of course flip to the appropriate scripture and she sighs of relief. πŸ™‚ it was good!
Also we are making a list of things that we didn’t sign up for as we became a missionary.
-Personal Trainer
-Counselor
-Chef
-Maid
-Mechanic
-Handy Man
and the list continues… lol these are only the ones we did this last week. I’m actually a pretty good personal trainer btw… lol πŸ™‚ I work out every morning and i’m doing better at eating right! in fact i’ve nearly lost all the mission weight I gained. πŸ˜€ Yay!!
This week I also had a #ProudMom moment with my trainee. She was asked to give a talk this last week to introduce herself to the ward. her topic being temples, and she was stressing out so much. She didn’t know what to talk about and then she asks me for help, and I talk to her about how we get to the temple what are the steps and I related the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Temple. It blew her mind. haha πŸ™‚ And that’s what she ended up giving her talk about. It was awesome πŸ™‚ I’m happy the spirit gave me the words to say when I needed them so that I could help my companion when she was in need.
!!THANKS SPIRIT!!
Anyway! this week was pretty good! I’ve learned alot about myself and what I need and I’m so grateful for priesthood blessings. They truly give us strength when we have nothing else to give. I’m grateful for my mission and for growth that I’ve had. I love you all! Thanks for all the love and support!
Love Always,
Sister Brittany Pope

I went to Missouri… Whaaaat?

So this week we went on exchanges and Sister Famalaro and I went to Missouri to go finding! So that’s exciting! I’ve now been to all 3 states that are included in my mission. Its exciting! πŸ˜€ I saw Sister Abegglen again because she’s not my STL. Yay old Companions! But we had a good time. Sister Pickard was so worried about her first exchange. πŸ™‚ But she told me that it was all good. πŸ™‚ I’m happy.
Also I failed to talk about how we had interviews with President Badger last week… Those were good! I shared with him 3 of my poems πŸ™‚ He really loved them. That made me feel good. I’ll see him and Sister Badger this week for our New Trainer/Trainee Meeting on Thursday. So we’ll be driving all the way to Iowa City… (3 Hour drive) Yay… But it’ll be fun!
Church was good yesterday! We had dinner with the Bishop and the Elders and we talked about our Ward Mission Plan, and he decided that the current plan was out dated, so we will be working with the Ward Council to create a new one that EVERYONE in the ward can work towards.
*If you don’t know what your Ward Mission plan is, Find out! Ask Someone! Its for every member of the Ward Not just the Missionaries! *
So we’re working on that. πŸ™‚
In other news… the members we are currently living with are hosting a 14 year old Grandson… So we can’t live with them for 2 weeks… No worries those we only moved a few houses away and we’ll still check their mail every day πŸ˜‰ So… Feel free to continue to send me things… πŸ™‚ But its fun, we live with musicians now and there is lots of singing that goes on all the time. Also their house looks like it came right out of pride and prejudice… Its awesome!
Anyway! I sure love you guys and I hope you know that i”m praying for you and i’m so happy to hear about all the miracles and the missionary work that you’re doing. You’re amazing! πŸ˜€ I love you so much!
love,
Sister Pope
-Picture of my bug bites… there are at least 9 bites in that picture…

-A Video Sister Fam made on my camera… lol You all needed to see it. πŸ˜‰

Navuoo Pageant comes to an end…

Hello My favorite people! πŸ™‚

So this last week was the end of the Navuoo Pageant. It was so fun to be able to be apart of it twice a week. I loved being surrounded by members of the church again! At first I thought it was weird that they all knew my name… then I remembered that I am literally wearing my name everyday and they just know where to look. πŸ™‚ It was so great! I’m saw lots of miracles and got to see some of my favorite people. πŸ™‚
One Huge miracle that I heard this week is My old companion Sister Barasnky received an email from her Mom. I about cried when she told me. πŸ™‚ I’m so grateful for the gospel and how Heavenly Father blesses us for all of our sacrifices. God is Good. πŸ™‚
We found some new investigators this week and we’re hoping to make them a little more solid. With a desire to come to church and actually Know for themselves. That’s the struggle here… But its okay! We’ll figure it all out!
Another thing I thought was funny, Is we share the ward with a set of Elders, but the Ward doesn’t really feed the elders just us Sisters… we have appointments lined up like everyday this week… But we were talking with the elder’s about why that is, and we’ve determined its because we go and play Volleyball every week with the ward. πŸ™‚ It makes me feel good and it builds member trust! Just this week we were able to set up a bi Weekly FHE with a member family for us to bring investigators to. πŸ™‚ its awesome! I love when I can see the blessings from Obedience πŸ™‚
Overall its been a truly wonderful week. Training is going well, Sister Pickard is catching on fast and trying her best. its been hard at times but I know she can do it! πŸ™‚ We’ll get the work moving in Macomb I know it!
I love you all! I hope you know that I have a testimony of Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. There is so much peace and comfort that comes as you read. I know that its true! I’m very grateful for the spirit and giving us the words to say, there have been so many times when I’ve just had words spill out of my mouth without knowing really what I was going to say next. The Lord works in Mysterious ways.
Ponderize!
Alma 40:11
What’s your verse!?
Love you lots!
